The project will start from Lao Cai province, which will be connected with China, and will end at Lach Huyen station in Hai Phong city. The main route is about 390.9km long and sub-route is about 27.9km long, passing through nine provinces and centrally run cities. They are Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Hai Phong. The project is proposed to be completed no later than 2030.
Residents of Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces, where the railway will pass through, welcomed the news with excitement and high expectations.
“When I heard about this project, I was so excited. I hope it will be completed soon so that locals can travel in the most convenient way.”
“The government building a railway line like this is very reasonable, helping people save time, ensuring safety and also meeting the economic and tourism development needs of Lao Cai.”
The railway also connects Lao Cai international border gate with Hai Phong international seaport. Luu Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Yen district, Yen Bai province, said that once completed, the project will create positive changes.
“The high-speed railway passing through Van Yen district has an important impact on the locality as it is convenient for travel and trade. Our district will capitalize on these advantages to call for and attract logistics investment,” Kien said.
