In a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday, Trump said both countries can then start to do big business with the US, which is thriving, and make a fortune.

Trump’s post came as an Easter ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine collapsed, with each side accusing the other of violations.

The failure to uphold the truce has raised doubt about Washington’s ability to mediate a durable peace agreement between the two.
